Hello Everyone,
Our club is having a cruise / campout at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument near Alamosa in July and we'd like to invite you all as well. We're bringing between 10-15 buses up from ABQ and would like to have a "meet in the middle" campout with some of you Colorado folks.
We'll be camping at the Pinion Flats Campground located inside the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. The campground is located to the right hand side of the dunes in the Pinion, Juniper, Scrub oak and Pine tree Forest It is around 225 miles from ABQ making it a super SUPER easy drive. It is usually around 3 1/2 - 4 hours in a bus from here to there. Camping is on a first come first serve basis, so plan to get there early. Camping is $14 per night per spot which can easily accomidate two Vw's.
Info about the dunes here: http://www.nps.gov/grsa/
I have also planned a day trip to the nearby Zapata Falls, a beautiful snowmelt waterfall cut into a slot canyon. It is a very short hike to the falls from the trailhead.
There is also the nearby Colorado Gators, an Alligator farm located a short distance away. Check out the video here:

Post up if you're down
Feel free to visit our club site as well. It's www.aaavwclub.com |

Mike-
Not sure if I can make it or not. I'm already taking a vacation the week before over the 4th. I'll let you know either way as we get closer. Thanks for the invite-

Mike,
If I don't have any trouble getting back from the wedding, I'll try to be there.

Zapata falls are amazing. It's an experience unlike any other.
I talked to quite a few people at VW's on the Green this weekend and there seems to be quite a bit of interest in this campout. Looking forward to a good turnout from both states. |

We're now two weeks away! I just had a thought: I'm going to bring a couple of unique local brews to share. Maybe you colorado folks (land of the micro-breweries) could bring something cool and local. I know Lou-ass is in with me on this one! |

I'll be there Friday morning and unfortunately only for one night.
I will be bringing some Colorado brew and a toboggan for the adventurous. |
