I need to see pictures of a 67 back seat "back". Mainly the nylon & rubber straps and hooks on the back. Where they are located? Is there a hook and rubber strap on each side.
Again this is for a 67...

OCD-
Thanks, that's a big help. I'm taking my seats to a local upholstery shop. They do more hot rods than VWs. They did a great job on my Fastback seats, which obviously have a different back seat...
I think I will do away with the center strap. Isn't it just to help the seat back to stay in the "down" position? The rubber strap is my main concern. Is the rubber strap something I can install after I get my seats back? Or should I give to the shop?
Now I'm waiting on the carpet for the luggage area from WCC..... _________________ Justin |

you can install the strap after the new upholstery has been installed, provided you know where the screw should be located on the seat frame. If you know pretty much were the retaining screw should go, you can feel around for the hole under the new upholstery. _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")

I didn't think 64 had the seat hook... At least mine doesn't. And my back seat won't lay down flat either. Is that normal, or have my cushions been "over stuffed"? |

OK...
I have two holes on the passenger side of the back seat frame that could be for the rubber strap mounting. I don't recall which one it was when I stripped the seats apart.
One hole is on the outer-most part of the frame, and the other is in the lower "curved" area. Hope its a good enough explaination. No pics of it right now.
If I could see a good picture of where it attaches to the frame, that would be great! _________________ Justin |

Is the white plastic phillips head screw shown in this picture where I would plug in a bolt for a 3 point belt if I opted for them over just a standard lap? |

Sweeeet! I might want to consider installing these (and boxing up my two front correct '67 belts) in all four seating positions. |

Oh, wait... I answered your question based on the photo in your post. This is the location in a '63 and '64
In '65 and '66 they were above the popout window latch.
If you have a '67, it's not going to have a phillips head plug for the shoulder belt. There are plugs under the seat for the lap belts, but no visible reference for rear seat shoulder belts. Supposedly, you can feel around the headliner for the hole, but I have never found it

I appreciate the clarification. Yes, I do have a '67.
Over the cooler months I will be having my rear parcel shelf removed and replaced and will be gutting most of the interior before this job (including the headliner) and will take some photos of what I see and dump them into this and my Chronicle thread. |
