hey everyone. hopefully someone can help. will a 65 bug roof graph into a 60 body. not including the posts and all that, just the roof skin. 43"x55"
the rag top was cut out of my 60 and i picked up a 65 body kinda by accident, because i was told it was a 63, and it had no glass when i picked it up and i just didnt pay enough attention i guess. has anyone done a roof graph like this? the 65 body is straight and i dont want to cut the roof out if its not even going to fit. thanks for any help at all, or if someone has pictures of this job.

as long as you are not using the window part, its bigger.

i would only be using the roof skin from just in front of the back window to a few inches behind the windshield. width was about a half inch inside of the creases that are close to the rain channels if that makes sense. i was eyeing it and it looks like a different contour. i know the windows are smaller on my 60, but will it fit without having to recreate any of the curves? thats where im stuck.

you will have to wait till someone more knowledgeable to chime in , because I'm not sure, but 65 was a change in body style so my gut says it wont work

I don't think you will have a problem with a roof graft. as long as you are staying away from the windows....rag top section only...it shouldn't be a problem

Since the front windshield is taller on a '65 then a '60 I think the shape of the whole roof may be different.

I agree the windshield part will be different, but if you do a search...there are many threads on cutting in a rag top. When you do it, you only need to splice it just in front of the opening...not all the way to the windshield. It can't be any different that putting an oval rag into a newer body....their windshields are different. Take your time...cut as little out as possible...and I'd bet you will be fine

Measure twice.
Cut once.

The windshield in a 65 is also slightly curved glass. That may have changed the roof shape.
This might be a better question in the paint and body forum.

thanks for the responses. im kinda dreading doing the curves up front because the back seems like it will line up good, but then again the back window is smaller also. i will get a few pics on here today in a few. sorry, i must have posted in the wrong section.

this is how the roof of my 60 is cut. its close to the front and rear windows its about the same distance cut from the rear window as it is at the front. is it even worth it. the black body is the 65.

65 roof does fit exactly to a 60 body. its kinda weird looking up and seeing the roof instead of the sky. and it welded up in nice because on the inside of the car, the top rounded spots where the dome light sits in, covers the seam that was welded.
