|
|
There are Type 3's with pigalle interior particularly the '66 models, and they are rare ~ you can ask our fellow Type 3 Boys on that.
But what about a '66 Karmann Ghia with pigalle interior, how rare is it?
Thanks

I don't know how rare it is, but I must say that it looks amazing. I'm interested in learning the back story on these 'pigalle' interiors. |

Yes, you are right. This is a one-year-only-model - that is - for 1966 Karmann Ghias. So, these are only handfull. The big question is, how many are left now? _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Just beautiful! I Love it and wich it was mine!!
I know Lars Nueffer has a lowmilege one. Used to be on the cover of his catalog.
Anyone got a pic of that "teak" version? Sounds interesting! I know I have seen a car with a brown dash-padding once..is that the one? |

View this topic / pics, Lutz Gaas has also one.
link to his album: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=399477
On the 50 Year KG event in 2005, there was also a type 34 Pigalle.
I might have some pics at home.
I think I have also some pics of the teak version. I thought that Lars Neuffer had also a teak version. _________________ 1958 Karmann Ghia Coupe

Here is a RHD Pigalle I saw somewhere on the net.
I spotted a couple of differences between a "normal" 66 and the one DONGKG posted.
The ignition switch on a '66 141/143 (LHD) is normally right of the steering wheel. The Hazard light control is on the left. The Pigalle in DONGKG's photo has these reversed. I've never seen that on a '66
The European '66 KGs don't have the hazard lights, which is the case for the 144 I have shown. Interestingly, the door pockets are missing on this one. Probably a clue of replacement door panels fitted with speaker grilles. But it looks like that was professionally executed.

Excerpt from the classic car show at Essen this year was '' the VW Karmann-Ghia coupé of the 1966 series. The object of desire at a museum exhibition stand directly adjacent to the Volkswagen booth is one of the rare special models with ivory paintwork, black roof and interior equipment named "Pigalle", with red carpets, red seats, red steering wheel and even a red gearshift lever.''
I want one of those

That RHD KG with Pigalle interior is too damn HOT!
Our counter-part Japanese vee-dubbers will surely die to have one of those unique piece of VW-KG history! _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Here is the pic of the T34 with pigalle interior on the 50th years of Karmann Ghia show in 2005.
And this is the teak interior of a 66 coupe, very rare stuff. This Ghia is in need of a restoration, but I hope that the current owner (who has also a pigalle convertible) puts it back on the road one day...

Did these cars come with a solid red tool bag. If so did any other cars come with one. |

These cars with pigalle are unique and were introduced only on '66 Type 3's and KG Type 1. Do check some threads at the Type 3 forums, everyone there are pretty head over heele inlove with it! _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Also the under dash knee pad is missing, but was that only on the T34 and later years?
