Hubcap clip Correct position

Hi:

Since I do not have any close reference to see them, what will be the correct positioning of the hubcap clips?, placed one way and the hubcap stock in the inner lip, placed the other way and do not hold the hubcap????

Any advice and photo(s) are appreciated.
