Hi ya all,
I'm planning to change the color of my LM1C buggy. It's actually red and needs a respray/slight rebuild. I'd like to paint it grey (I said grey, not silver). I'd like to see other's buggies painted grey to help make the final decision, so if you have some pics, please post. I did a search and actually looked in the gallery for a while...Thanks.

Thanks. This one is really nice with the cragar wheels, but I'm looking for a mouse grey color, not metallic silver. I saw a lot of silver buggies, but not a single "plain" grey (not metallic). I'm sure there is some... Don't be shy, show your grey beauty...

Here's one:
Although mine was a grey metalic, the metalflake is so fine that in pictures it looks grey.

Thanks. Both are nice. I like the simplicity of the anthracite one on the dragstrip. I prefer the color of yours, nice combo with the wheels. It seems that a simple non-metallic grey buggy is not common... A good thing for me if I do paint it mine grey I suppose... _________________ 1976 181/Thing, 1967 fastback, 1973 squareback, 1964 microbus, 1967 Double Cab, 1969 westfalia (currently under resto), 1972 LM1C dune buggy, 1974 jean's bug, 1974 1303 (super beetle, currently under reassembly after new paint). |

In a certain way, it's closer to the final result I expect than silver metallic paints. So, Yes !! _________________ 1976 181/Thing, 1967 fastback, 1973 squareback, 1964 microbus, 1967 Double Cab, 1969 westfalia (currently under resto), 1972 LM1C dune buggy, 1974 jean's bug, 1974 1303 (super beetle, currently under reassembly after new paint). |

No offense, but in my opinion a grey buggy is going to scream " straight from the mold, and I could not afford to paint it". Many FG manufacturers use grey as a generic gelcoat color.
I think buggies look best in bright colors. Yellow, red, orange, blue, etc. _________________ 62 vert

No offense taken Murzi. I totally agree. It's just that I want something different. The buggy is red right now. But I want to change everything : wheels, color, new windshield, steering wheel, seats, side mirror,... I already upgraded it to disc brakes. It has a manx sidewinder ceramic coated exhaust, a strong 1600cc that needs upgrades too (dual carbs,...). The buggy has an older paint that shows its age. It's time to respray. And, instead of respraying it red (which could still happen), I was thinking grey. Not silver metallic, but a nice brilliant grey though... This is how it looks by now :

I'm not sure if this buggy is silver or grey because the only color I really see is HOOTERS!

Now this is grey, I love it.
look up in colours in archives. Grey with the slightest hint of purple, imperceptible but there. |
