How would this thing work on a VW? The wheel appears to be fixed, and I thought the beauty of a single wheel was the fact that the rear wheel always swiveled:

Wouldn't this be tough to back up with a full load? Or does the wheel move and I just don't see it?

It attaches to the car with 2 balls. Here's the back of my friend Bill's car. He has a one wheel trailer.

Sorry... i missed the fact you were asking about the wheel being fixed and not swiveling.

I'm clueless... all the one's i've seen have a wheel that swivels.

I have a few single wheel trailers and all of them have a swivel on the wheel. It seems like the trailer would jack-up your bumper mounts the minute up turned the wheel while backing up. Even with the swivle wheel you feel some spooky resistance as the wheel spins around. Once it is around the trailers back up very smoothly. I also wounder about the rubber band, bow-flex looking "shock" on the trailer. If that thing were to break things could get ugly in a hurry. Also there is no way that I see to adjust the resistance on that band as you carry heavier loads or as it stretches out.
I do like the size, shape and style of the trailer frame.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too. I can't see that not just tearing your bumper up first time you backed up on a curve.

the car is a 68. He put in the oval rear and an oval dash. The lid is a non-vert that he put in lat 60's vents into.
