Hi !

As some of you know I´m about to be ready with the 4-finger front apron for pre 59 beetles......I will also go for the pree 49 model but I have a question before the lasercutting.

Is there someone out here that have a un-restored 1949 or earlier beetle in near, and could take a photo or look at the inside of the front apron.....just behind the locking tab, is ther a hole there as in the 1950 and newer ??

Thanks / Wolf

Mark Merrill's '46, doesn't look like it had it. But then again, it the L handle latch.

You are looking for a pre '49, but no L handle apron reference??

I think wolf is asking for pre-49 aprons, i.e. with L handles, as every pre-49 have L handles...
I think he wants to know if there is a whole behind the little "bracket" in which the lock get croched at.

Why is there a hole anyway? Is that for the locking pin that goes through the lock and then throught that hole in the front apron?

i personally think that the hole for the post 49 apron behind the hood lock mechanism is for adjusting the cable that goes under the dash. push the knob forward to the mechanism, loosen the screw that holds the cable, and then after pulling the cable, tighten the bolt back . all that thorough the round hole behind the lock.

i see another challenge here: the picture that i have posted has the hole under the clamp smaller in height than what you have posted in the previous photos. is there a pattern for the rectangular hole? was it the same for all the cars or just this 46 has a different size one?

dont you think it is just the camera angel that trick the eye ?

I will borrow a front piece from a 46 from a guy here in Sweden.....so I can tell you later if it is the same pattern Very Happy
