Just wanted to thank ksr for producing the decklid.

Now i can drill out the rain gutters for my 2276cc

Something I would never do to a real lid.

I can also place my original non vert decklid in storage.

nobody is bashing wolf parts for h aprons?

Keep reproducing as many parts as possible so that i can still drive my car 40 years from now.

Early pans, 4 tab hoods, bullet fenders

Funny as those who don't care about original parts hate on those willing to keep their OG parts costing grands... Keep them buying OG parts and buy repops, so everyone will be fine Wink And it's the same for others on the "purists" corner... Damn, let thos buy repops, and let repops be made, if there's a market Wink

The problem is not judging if making repops is fair or not. It is. And such repops are valuable because they are accurate. If KSR makes ANY change in their shape that makes them more distinguishable (except a little mark or anything), they will be as interesting as any cheap repop (i.e almost nothing).

So, what is the solution? I honestly don't know. I just find it funny (that's ironic, but I'm sure you understood) that both "corner" hate (don't know if it's the right word) on the other one, claiming their advice is the best one. I'm not constructive, I know (and I'm used not to be constructive).

I on my side think that it's a good thing repops exist, for those making custom cars, and in some years for those willing to make their cars go (think about seals Wink). On the other hand, I think it's a shame that those OG decklids will be devaluated because of the doubt it could not be OG.

Julien, stopping saying silly things and going to sleep...

Edit : H aprons from wolf will maybe considered as different, as it is sheetmetal to be welded, not a part on its own. Slight difference, but this could be enough. Plus "false" spot welds can be easily spotted (pun attended) I guess...

The individuals that have spent the time and money searching for all those hard to find “Original Volkswagen Manufactured Parts”, are the once that care the most. For those that don’t have much of a collection could care less.

Imagine how 57 Chevy Convertible owners feel. You can buy a whole repro car now from Cars Inc.Very Happy However, if you care, you wouldn't buy one. If you don't care, build the entire car from non original parts. In the end, it's your car and whatever makes you happy, I say do it.

I like original stuff just as much as the next guy, but I'm not going to leave a car on jack stands until I can find the original part. Hell, buy the repro piece and run your car. If you ever find the original part for a fair price, then you can buy it, paint it and bolt it on.

With that said, I hope KSR does some nice fenders next Very Happy

The point is misrepresentation. Most people don't have problems with people faking the funk on their cars.

I get that Wiggy, but like you saw in this thread, the hobby is full of repro stuff that you would have a hard time telling what's real or not. I've got a ton of parts that will probably never be reproduced like Perohaus Clocks, VDO Mirror Clocks, 25HP Engine Cases, etc.... there again there are a lot of repro items like mudflaps, reserve handles, foglight brackets, hood badges, etc... that you can choose to run or not.

Most of these people represent them as originals, but if you care, you'll do your homework and know that they are not. If it's so good of a repro you can't tell the difference, I imagine you would drive your car around for years feeling great about it until one day Wiggy says "Hey, that's a repro deck lid on your car!" I probably wouldn't give a crap at that point???

I don't know, KSR is selling them as repros, people are buying them and painting them as we speak, and nobody will know they are repro down the road. Oh well. If I had 10 originals hanging on my garage wall, I might be pissed but that's how it goes in life Very Happy

Nope, it's repro nylon cut pile Laughing It is quite easy to tell the KSR rerpo vert decklid from and original. The inner pressing is a little different compared to my OG vert lid.

We have the same argument over at another
forum I visit. I happen to be Colt guy. Other's
cut down Colt's as being old fashion and over
priced. I refer to Colt SAA's in .45Colt and
1911 .45acp autos. There are newer and by
some tastes much better weapons, but to
old farts like myself who have used Colt's
for a long time...If it isn't a Colt, it's just a
copy..

I apologize for bringing firearms into this, but
I hope those who search for NOS and those
who supply repos understand. I'm in no way
cutting anyone's product or reproduction,
just trying to make a point.

I think if there is a discernable difference between the two then no one should worry about they're collection of og vert lids being de-valued majorly.

Which I would love to see BTW. Laughing I think the prices are a joke really.

If there is no difference in the lids then you can stand there and hold them both in your hands, I don't care. IF you take one over the other and spend 10x the money , your the idiot. Not me. It's just fuc*ing metal people. Rolling Eyes

But hey, I also have a problem with people saying 67' camaros are worth $300k cause some joker bought one for that at Barrett Jackson.
Just cause some people are stupid and pay over the top prices, that does not set the market value. What about the next guy the next weekend who bids on a similar car and gets it for 85k.

I just searched and found vert lids for 1500-1700ish which wasn't as bad as I thought they were.
I found sedan lids for anywhere from 2-750 depending on the condition.

I would buy OG for that price. Not a vert lid though as I think they look silly. The vents wreck everything.
