The trip to pick up the bus was longer than I first thought it would be. Anyway it's back now. Here are a few pics.

interesting. It apparently was originally white, then painted green inside and out and then later painted red on the outside.

Love the bus!! Congrats! You're in for lots of learning and fun! Laughing

The floor actually looked pretty good in the back so far.

I'm going to have to replace the front floor plan.

The frame underneath looks pretty good. Anyway now comes the fun part of cutting, welding, cleaning, and getting rid of that ugly as paint. Smile

Yeah that's what I was thinking. After that I then thought oh noo there will be bondo everywhere. But I went around it with a magnet and it stuck everywhere so I may be lucky.

I dunno what color I'm going to throw on it yet.

Paint doesn't always necessarily mean bondo. Some will spray or roll a coat to sell a vehicle. Small time car dealers are famous for it.

On the other hand, someone went through a fair bit of work to convert it to sage green at some point in history. Then some goofball went and slapped red over it. When/if you paint one day, I would go back to the sage green if I were you since most of the interior is done that way anyway. That means you don't have to strip the interior to get it to match the outside.

I'm not really positive I want to go with a OG color. I know this will prolly make some people mad. Laughing

I don't really mind stripping all of the interior paint and prepping it. I have all winter and prolly even longer. Smile

I was thinking of a dark silver/grey or maybe charcoal? I really have no idea yet though. Confused

It's a '74 automatic. I'm not sure if I am going to change it over to a manual or not yet.

74. then i stick to my claim that the bus was not "originally" white at all, but that neon/ravenna-not-ravenna/yosemite westfalia only color.
(it also has later westfalia cabinets/seats in it in case you were not aware)

Not completely sure on the original color, but it was definietly painted green on the interior at some point. There is green paint all over everything (including the gas pedal). The door shows white inside where the plastic was not taken off when it was sprayed inside.

I don't know.

The only white I see on it is behind the door panels. Everywhere else is green. And if it was some color other than green, then who ever painted it green did a pretty good job.

That might look good, but would be very hot in a vehicle with no a/c.

Starting from the top of the thread: pics 5 and 12. Left of the driver's headlight recess, you can see where the green spray stops.

In the back, under the green, there isn't any other color that I can see.

What is the little canister for up front? It has a tube coming out and a fill hole. You can see it in the pic of the front floor pan.

You are probably referring to the window washer fluid reservoir. You put your window washer fluid in there and pressurize it so that you can clean your windows when you need to. However, a lot of the old systems have pressure leaks that prevent them from operating properly. You'd just have to test it.
