I upgraded my brakes and in the fron to the big brake kit and SA 15' steel wheels. It States that thye WILL fit however my uncle is finishing up the brake upgrade for me and says they wont fit and the rub on the inside of the wheel! I did paint the rims and calipers, is it that tight of a fit? _________________ -Lorenzo

yes, it is a very tight fit, any piece of debris logged in there will make some noise, not sure how much the paint adds to the problem. Why don't you call Van Cafe on Monday morning and ask them about it. They sell and install these kits on a regular basis. They did mine with the SA 15" Rhein wheels. |

Van Cafe states that the 15" steel wheels will not accomadate the big brake kit, only the alloys |

"Please note that the 15"" steel wheels ARE compatible with the current new generation Audi based big brake kits."
"Please note brakes work fine with 15"" alloys - South African, German 5-star, and Euro-look - and with South African 15"" steel rims but may have interference issues with other 15"" or 16"" steel or alloy wheels). "
This is pulled directly off the VanCAfe site...
I did throw a coat of chasis black on them... Didnt think it'd be be so tight. Well I uess I'm gonna sandblast the inside and rattle can them and then try. My other 15's fit.... they're older Audi 15' alloys. This really bums me. First they forgot to ship my rear brakes, then I got a bunk caliper bracket on my Big Brake kit... Wasted two days of my uncles time... . THey are sitting here with brand new 215/75/15 BFGs on them....
This really is frustrating... _________________ -Lorenzo

You're going to have to call Van Cafe, I think. I can't believe the paint makes that much difference.
Best,

This really is frustrating... Am I so wrong to ask for follow through once my purchase is done? Obviously I am going all out on my Van and will be do more purchasing of parts for futre vans as well, this whole experience puts a bad taste in my mouth unless this stuff works out. |
You haven't done alot of this before have you?
If you are planning on using alot more aftermarket parts, and an engine conversion, you will run into more stuff like this.
This one is just a learning experiance, learn from it and move on.
Hell, you're lucky you have the internet for information.
It could get real frustrating when all you had were books and word of mouth. |

Grind or install some spacers. You should be able to get something really thin, less than a 1/4'. Something like 1/8.
And you could keep your lug/bolts.

You'll love the brakes.
Call VC and see if they have some insight.
If you have to buy some HubCentric spacers, so -be- it.... The tires will look and work great, the van will have brakes, and your ride will have a alightly wider 'Look'. |
