Hello-

I've been experimenting with different cams using Desktop Dyno. The Isky 2J and Porsche super grinds are appealing, but I've noticed that I can send my flow data, etc. to Elgin, and they'll make me a a custom cam. Being an engineer type, a custom grind sounds very appealing. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Paul

custom grinds are a neat way to get the most out of your motor. but the custom grind doesn't take in what your use or purpose of the motor is.
weight of car, gearing, is it a crusier or hot rod stoplight to stoplight? also those specs you give to a cam grinder should include the compression ratio, type of carbs being use, and so on. just the head flow and engine size isn't all the cam grinder needs to know. Elgin has a vast knowledge and their website has tons of info, but again he has his own theories on what works and what doesn't.

I went with a custom grind cam so I could have the best of both worlds. A nice lumpy idle, but a smooth ride that does not have to be above 3000 rpm's. Just my opition.
