Thats why i started on the outside and also why its parked outside the garage for now.... Ive got a 3M respirator I use to do the nasty stuff. I will also be wearing a throw away pair of coveralls and rubber gloves. Everything has been doused with bleach water but Im still a little scared of the poop.

To clean the bus I used Mr Clean disinfectant cleaner and a soft brush to get the big stuff and then I used a 50/50 mix of CLR and water to get at the surface rust. I still need to get the top but I need to acquire a ladder first.

There is disinfectant spray that you can find at janitorial supply houses that will kill HIV and Hauntavirus. I douse my field Buses in it.

Looking good. I would research into whether or not those 3m masks filter viruses. The main thing is to avoid the dust.

Restoration Complete!! Very Happy

Awesome find, very cool for Florida! Not as rusty as I would expect for our humid climate.

Yeah, congrats on your find and cleaning it. Take care of that mice/rats urine or whatever. I just read about haunta and that's scaring...

Incredible cleanup! Thanks for documenting it.

When you take those ceiling panels off inside, you will be caught in rat poop rainfall. Good luck and protect yo' self.

Nice Job on the clean up. How are the neighbors w/ that in the driveway ?
I'd suggest large wooden "Victor" Snap traps w/a "Dots" candy as bait, I've bagged 6 mice so far this season w/ the smaller traps, and 3 chipmunks w/ the bigger trap.

I have a cat who considers rodents to be squeaky toys and snacks.
From time to time she's invited me to play mouse soccer. (the mouse gets to be the ball).
If a bus sits a while in her territory, the rodents don't seem to move in. Hmmm.

At one point a friend had a albino corn snake that was raised in capitivity and ate dead mice. She'd buy frozen mice (micicles), defrost one in warm water, then put it in the cage and poke it with a stick and the snake (J. Willy) would eat it. One spring I was getting, my cat was giving me a gift mouse almost every day, that's in addition to the ones she ate and would just leave the heads and the green things. Serious rodent carnage going on. My friend asked me to freeze the rodents for her snake. So I did, and gave them to her. Her snake started growing more quickly. Which just goes to show that nice fat spring wildcrafted mice are more nutritous than factory farmed ones. Also, one of the factory farmed micicles she defrosted was putrid, so she was less than impressed with their quality control and safety standards.

Oh ya, bus is looking good!

Just a heads up on the wild-mice-fed-to-captive-snakes, captive snakes grow up with sano mice and rats as food, whether live or frozen, and you never know what that little choice wild one has been eating. We just snagged a rat in our garage and as nice and plump and healthy as it appeared, it went in the trash, not into any of our pythons. Just couldn't risk it.

Nice clean up. I can't believe how much better it looks. I'm guessing that that aluminum strip attached to the rain gutter is for the tent that the critters ate?

You should tell you neighbor the election is over Laughing
