Nope, but I wouldn't mind having one, though I think all the real ones are in either Japan or Germany |

Putting earlies on a Barndoor are like putting 21's on a musclecar, "earlies" are nice but the time frame is wrong since they didn't hit the scene until 66. |
But the 944 Turbo brakes dont fit the era either but them earlies bolt right up sweet on them. They are just a personal prefference. Nothing more to me. _________________ GFK

But the Rudge's slide right on to the splined knock off hub on the Carrera finned aluminum vented drums, you know the ones with the cool air scoops on the backing plate, now that's "old school" at it's finest! |

[quote="RockStock"]Can’t make up your mind?
Here’s a montage of rims as seen on Barndoor Deluxes before…
What are you going for on your ride?
Which is your favourite rim on a BD?
Got any other pics? Better pics?
Pics of top rims on other models of BD?
Pics of BD rims not to go for?
What rim would you like to see on a BD?
DSRs
seem to be love/hate. I like em
whats the difference
which are cheeper _________________ Luca Brasi's got nothing on me

I like the looks of the DSR's a bit better (when choosing between the two), they look like they have a little less of the outer rim section to them.
The centre sections of the RDW's look like they have been made so they can be used on both 14 or 15 inch rims.
But that's just what I have noticed from the pics I have seen, I would like to see a side by side shot of both types to see properly. |

DSR's!!!!!!!!!!!!
but RDW's are far cheaper. there is a set of DSR's for sale right now for $3700
search Der Steiner Rad or DSR there are a few threads that show in depth the differences and explain the history of the DSR. _________________ drive your split. |

Well that got completely out of control
As you know, I have dabbled with various set's of wheels and personally
I have come to a conclusion, it's all about the off-set (ie the wheel
sitting into the arch)! Porsche rims are generally the best in this category,
in particular the 4.5's. The ET Gassers (cast centers spokes with rolled
ali rim's) would (I thought) look mental on a barn door, so I struck'um
on. The off-set was, to be quit frank, rubbish! and consequently cost me
a fortune to get them under the wheel arches. Obviously it would be nice
to have vintage wheels on your bus that nobody else run's, however you
can just about guarantee that in the not to distant future someone will
be re-making them!
So.... If you go for a wheel with a good off-set it will probable save you
money (in terms of bus modification to get them on) At present I am
running a set of Torque Thrust D with Porsche 5x130 bolt pattern. but then
again I'm not to sure for how long coz variety, my friends, is the spice of life |

Thought i'd bring this cool interesting thread back to life! - i've got a set of JP Porsche rims that will go on my deluxe, deep dish rears and skinnies up front. They will have an 'old skool' blasted/textured centre and polished rim when i get round to detailing them!
