so im having a hard time figuring this out, ive searched the samba, and looked through my bently.
i dont have an engine to check on ATM but on a 69mm stroke with a stock non decked case and stock mahle 85.5 what does the deck end up at ?
just a ballpark figure would be good

Cool AM doing the same, vw shop said ball park would be 85 to 90 thousands
I read on Berg never go less than .040

well i know the minimum requirement. so around .085 or .090 ..
ill try searching through my bently again.

I read somewhere in Berg's writings that VW used deck height to control compression; approx .045" in the 1200 or 1300 up to .065" or so
with the 1600. Hope this helps. Al

PS- In Berg's technical article about deck height-
factory stock 1200cc- 0.042 to 0.047"
1500cc- 0.057 to 0.059"
1600cc- 0.064 to 0.069"

According to Mr. Berg "the 1500 and 1600 share the same head cc's so VW regulated the CR with the deck."
