Just tore down a 36 hp from the pile of cores and it had 4 nice pistons but only three good cylinders ( one had severe pitting/water damage). All of the pistons are marked 77.45 (Mahle with the VW logo on the inside).

Can I take a stock 77mm cylinder from another 36 hp core and have Rimco machine it out to match my 77.45mm piston?

What rings would you suggest running?

It is just going to be a stocker......no souped-up parts. Thank you all for your time.

normaly for an enginebuilder it should be no problem to do a new bore in 77,5mm for your 77,45 pistons...

here in germany a set of 4 to machine to next diameter will cost around 150-200$...
