The actuators freeze from water inside as well as corrosion on contacts.
You can take them apart and clean contacts, freeup motor and lube it. add more grease around slider and put back together. make sure rubber boot is sealed, if possible and get a few more miles out of them. It's always a pain when they fail. Or you can unplug them and wait till spring, just go manual for now!
Dogpilot has great schematics for them! _________________ It's all in your mind.

Been there, done that, tired of it. Thanks. I better hurry up and order them while I'm still annoyed.
Does anyone know if the Depot part the same thing? _________________ '69 Mike

Someday soon we'll be searching for replacement Mabuchi motors and repairing stuff like that. _________________ Current fleet: Vanagons, two '88 GLs and an 89 Bluestar. Beetles, '63, '64, '72 convertible. Plus, four Subarus and three Prius. Too many cars. |
