Now I Wish I Hadn't Parked Here...

I drove yesterday to my favorite place on the Palisades: State Line Lookout. It overlooks the Hudson from hundreds of feet up. Turkey vultures and hawks soar in the thermals. I pull up next to a minivan whose owner looks interested in my car. He asks me a couple of questions while I hook up my little tire inflator to the spare because I've used up the pressure keeping my windshield clean from the road salt and snow melt. After just a couple of minutes talking about my beetle he proceeds to wax ecstatic about his Kia minivan that's just two weeks old. Now, he was a nice guy and I don't want to be mean. But he spent the next 15 minutes raving about a MINIVAN. Only reason I had to stay there was to wait for the inflator to finish working. I wanted so much to tell him "See that cliff over there? Guess what I wish you'd do? I DON'T CARE ABOUT A #@!*&#@! MINIVAN!!! THIS IS WHY I GOT A BEETLE!!!"
