Think it's one of Reimo's pop top designs. Have only seen on in person and really liked it. High enough to stand in when down, and lots of room in upper berth when up.
Christoph Boltze has a site with lots of T3 (vanagon) stuff.
http://boltze.dyndns.org/terlinden/index_en.htm Click on Germany, then on reisemobile and there's a list of German manufactured camper brochures. I'm sure he used to have Reimo camper brochures, but might have had to remove them for legal reason. Might be able to email him to find out. He's German, but speaks English. |

Does anyone know anything about these high/pop tops. It's made by SCA, I
think. I remember seeing on busman.be, but I guess he sold it as its not on the site anymore. I found this on the German ebay. Just wondering if they still make this type anymore.

Reimo, TECA, and SCA all made this type roof IIRC. |

Karl, what's going on with the dual fillers? 2WD converted to syncro? 2WD with WVO tank?

Karl, your friend's green van with custom top is pretty hot! I always wondered how the black stripe would look if it covered the slider latch area. Now I know it looks pretty good.
I have a 90 Syncro AW and I love the high top.The issue of where the molds are and who, if anyone, will attempt to produce these has been beaten like the proverbial dead horse.
As far as what is more realistic, the 33" green one from the Jaeger site is my pick. I am a definite yes if a group order happens. I would use this to convert my non camper Syncro.............
Any other takers?
Thanks,
Miguel |

I really wonder about the top on the blue van. It is definitely not the same design as the one on the bronze one above. Was it really a top from another vehicle (e.g. bay bus) that someone cut to fit?

Quite a good eye Andrew. I think you're 100% correct, that one isn't Fiberine, and it's definitely riverted or screwed together at the rear third area. For another thing, the Fiberine top is more 'upright' in the front, and even more fugly. |
It's different than the others for sure, but it's on my list of fiberine tops. I just assumed it was an earlier fiberine model.
I think this might be your old van Karl

That reimo is sweet! Nice rig its sitting on too. I really dig having only the 2 rear windows for a camper, a little more privacy plus it looks pretty unique compared to most vans in the us. Ah, so many awesome tops, so few choices here. I really like the diy top as compared to the fiberine, Karl, do you have any contact information for the owner? I'd be interested in asking a few questions if he/she was willing to spare the time.

Check out these roofs:

I'm totally gonzo for one of the higher versions. If anyone reading this would be game to place an order for multiple units, I'd bet we could convince them to crate the roofs and ship directly to a US port. Jaeger, I'm pretty sure, doesn't actually stock the roofs but is merely a sales point and the roofs are shipped directly from SCA. AND, with the current great exchange rate (1 Euro = $1.30) the price is good too. Better quality, perfect fit.
IMHO, the Fiberine roof is just plain Fugly and fits too poorly to make in into the running. I also have pics of a roof a friend built from scratch in interested--a huge undertaking though! |
Count me in! Ill take one of those in a heartbeat. |

If you haven't looked at my website, there are photos of my own highroof Syncro 16" there--Reimo top and [poorly built] interior circa 1990. |

Here's a pretty nice looking AWagen that just came up for sale:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=729218
16" syncro flares, 16" wheels, interesting looking front guard. Is there a vendor that sells those? _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,

OK, folks, I decided to share my 'stash': Here is a quick photo page I stuck together of all highroof photos I have. If you have something different to add, I'd love to have more in the collection!

Wow!
A lot of gems in there (and a dog or two). Like that black job with the top of a vanagon added to a vanagon! hehe. He's got a suby in that IIRC. Got to be the 16" syncro reimo hi-top/pop-top with the built in solar for me though. Sweet!

Yeah, have seen a couple GetAway highroofs, I think made in Canada? Too bad they made them like horrible US conversions inside...
Those others are VERY weird! |

Like everyone else said, nice stash! Man are there some cool rigs in there. Thanks for sharin the goods Karl. There went about 2 hours of my day oogling and daydreaming about hightops. On the top of those SCA tops, I tried to find an email on their site, no dice. Also tried emailing Jaeger to get contact info for SCA but no luck with that one either, he just told me that he doesnt ship those tops, which was as Karl had surmised. So, has anyone ever gotten ahold of SCA? I'll keep lookin around, theres gotta be an email addy somewhere.
