All right, so I bought an OG wood slat roof rack a while back and have been driving with it on for quite a while now. Heres the problem/question, the middle leg on both sides dont fit down in the gutter as I believe they are supposed to. I think at some point in this racks life it was stored setting on one side(3 legs) maybe with some weight on it cause it fits real tight around the roof. Before I go bending the legs out can anyone post some pics of where the front legs are supposed to sit in the gutter up by the windshield so I can have a reference to bend by. Im sure usually a rack will only sit in a gutter flat footed where it is supposed to but like I said I cant even get my middle feet to sit down in the gutter right now.
Thanks for any help/tips in advance. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled

I'm putting my rack on for the Litchfield Bug-In this weekend. I'll snap a photo tonight or tomorrow and post it. My rack sits fully in the gutter at all three points on both sides, so you're right about having a problem. Seems odd, though, that it would warp that much just from sitting. |

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. Yeah, I dont know how it got tweaked really but it doesnt fit for sure. I have tried putting it in different places in the gutters and no matter where there are always two legs not touching. I will try and post some pics of my rack and maybe someone with a good grasp of geometry can point out the problem area. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled

It's raining like crazy here, so I'm holding off on putting the rack on for a day or two. The last time I had it on, I marked where the front and rear supports touch down on the gutter, so that info should get you started until I can post a photo.
Measurements are from the start of the chrome trim on the gutter, not the gutter itself. The front support is centered 15 3/4" back along the gutter from the front edge of the chrome piece. The rear support is centered 15" forward along the gutter from the rear edge of the chrome trim piece.
Hope that helps. |

Well, That is a good start. My rack is set apx. 1" to far back but that is the only place I can get it to securely latch on. I will reset it and maybe I can see where the problem is. Thanks for the measurements. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled
