You really are on a budget, can't afford enough of one color and just used what was left in a bunch of cans

Hahaha, what's even funnier is the truth behind acquiring those paints. I used my Canadian Tire money to buy the paint because I didn't have any money, hahaha. I think only Canadians can appreciate this, basically it's "money" that you get when you buy stuff from a store called Canadian Tire. I think you get about 1-2% back on every dollar you spend. Ah, the life of a student!

Nice square... I love the rubber chicken shift boot! The paint scheme of the engine tin is priceless, way to be original and think outside the box!!!
I also have to comment on the interior... I like the tweed/vinyl combo, where did you happen to find that? Looks good... keep it up and post updates to the car. It's nice to see others progress in their build while mine stands still! Shocked

For the exact response I got in the first reply. "I didn't see that coming" hahaha. Reason = to be absolutely unique and fun. My car is an expression of my personality (silly/goofy). I think the engine bay would be complete after adding maybe a disco ball and a strobe light, hahaha.

Rattrp - the interior is just a seat kit from TMI. You pay a bit more for two-tone and for tweed and for smooth vinyl. They were easy to do and came out fantastic, I'm totally impressed. Total for both front seats and the backseat came under $400 CAD after shipping and everything.

Thanks for all the support guys, there'll be lots more updates to come as progress continues. As much as I love the hoodride/ratty look, someday (when I'm done school) I really would love to do a proper resto on her.

I just noticed something. Where you have those elbows coming off the fan housing, those either need to be capped off, or connected to the heater boxes. They should not be just dumping to the air.
Other that that, it is a good looking car.

I was wondering who would pick up on that. Don't worry, I want my heat fully functioning here in Canada. I'm just waiting for the 60mm tubes to come in. AVR here in town only had 50mm bug ones. I also don't have an equalizer tube still, but I'll have that on before the weekend. Another change I made is getting rid of the fuel filter I used to have in my engine bay, it's under the car now.

Just wanted to throw up an update as to how the car has been doing! Sandy finally got a decent inspection that only required a few last little fixes. I got them all finished but when I went for reinspection the mechanic was on holidays. This was the day before Volksfest in Victoria, BC so I threw on a day permit and went on a somewhat illegal roadtrip to Victoria for the show anyways, then up island to Tofino for some surfing and then back home. This was the first significant amount of driving (1000 kms) it had ever done, all on the same shortblock that came in the car when I bought it and had been sitting for 5 years, undriven, in storage. It drove perfect, and while making great fuel mileage too. So I got the reinspection, finally got some plates, and about 10 minutes after bolting them on the car headed for Calgary, Alberta. She made it there no worries and we just made the trip back home to Abbotsford yesterday up all those twisting mountain roads in the blasting heat. I couldn't be happier with the way she's been performing, over 3000 kms in the last 3 weeks and going strong!!!
