...and I have no clue how fast I was going. Not having a speedometer is an issue. I know there is a calculator somewhere and I cannot find it. I have a 3.88 trans with 235/75/15 tires. I topped out at 3600 RPMs with a slight tail wind. Lets say the wind was strong enough that going the other way I was topped out at 50-55 mph. I only know that becuase I marked 55 on the tac. |

About 85
You also need your 4th gear ratio, .93

I would say more along the lines or 75mph. I know all stock; 87mph=4500rpms. |

My trans is an AH which I was told is 3.88 with a .89 4th. Now that I'm home, I finally found the calculator I used last time. It says I did 91. Pretty frickin scary in a beetle on a 2 lane road. Maybe next time I'll take it out in a hurricane for some real speed testing. |

An AH case normally has a 4.12 R&P with an .89 fourth. The AT case is a 3.88 with a .93. I suppose if it's been rebuilt, the lower gear set could've been installed.

Actually it moved a bit quicker off the line with the stock engine than it does with my cam'd 1641. Because the stock engine makes top torque near 2000rpms this actually kept the engine in the power band. |
