You have to get the wires out of the plastic block that connects to the headlight. Then you can work the individual wires through the hole one at a time after you push the rubber tube out. _________________ 69 Beetle

Take a jeweler's screwdriver (or paper clip in a pinch) and jam it into the bulb end of the socket. You can see that there is a space where the asterisk is below. This presses a tang so the wire can be pulled out of the plastic. Push the wire INTO the connector, then insert the driver, then pull the wire out.

Make a drawing of how the wires go back into the connector. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

X2! Yes, not only wire color, but orientation of the metal connector--you want the tangs back where they came from. You might need to bend them back out SLIGHTLY before insertion so they "snap" in tightly.

Or, I have complete Dasher head light harness, you can cut the NOS connector off of. They have the right colored wires. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

It's easier just to cut the wires and then solder them back together when you reach that point. Then use the rubber insulated electrical tape and voila... you are back in business. Or the other method works as well, just depends how much time you want to spend to pop the wires out of the plug harness. _________________ You laugh cause I'm different...

Here you can see the tab/tang that locks it into the plastic holder:

Do it successfully once, and the next ones take five seconds each. You just have to learn the feel of pushing it in to take the tension off the tab, poke the driver in, and pull out.
That sounded dirty. |
