Just a little update on the car...
She needed very little work to get her roadworthy again,
mainly the brakes needed going through and a good service.
She flew through the UK mot ,and late last year i was able to get
her registered and issued with new plates.
Just been waiting for some nice weather to go out for a drive.
Took a couple of pictures today...
See you at Hessich! |

Looks absolutely gorgeous Russ any pics of the interior? I can’t remember them in detail but I know it was original.
They must be saving “XUF” registrations for Ghias…mine is 265 XUF. |
Thanks John. This morning i spent some time giving the interior a clean,
but forgot to take some pictures
The interior is in great condition as these old photos show.
All original, even the rubber mats are still supple!
The front seats have been covered by towelling covers
for most of there life. The rear seat/luggage area looks unused.
I will get some better pictures next time.

hi.
very very nice pictures of your ghia. wow. i love the old ghias.
55 is an rare car. save it and show us at hessisch 2009.
i for myself have only bad news. after neverending engine problems we open the enigine and saw that i have an fatal error with my engine. ALL parts are broken down. the men who makes my engine complete makes more failures than an little boy whos is lerning to write words.
shit....so i need an complete rebuilded engine. i only can use my carburator and the metalparts like housing etc...
i'm very angry.
the same men makes my gearbox, the next shit happens.
last saturday i was in netherlands to bring my gearbox to andre van wijlen.
after i told him what my problems are with my gearbox he means that for 50% or more the gearbox have an fatal error, too.
my neck have dimensions like an gas-tank
hope to see you all in hessich (WITH my ghia)
udo

Udo- Verdammte Sch_ _ sse! Sorry to hear of your Ghia's mechanical failures. I've had some of those myself on engines that I built but if you rely on an "expert" and then this happens you lose lots of confidence. I hope you can get the situation taken care of fairly and quickly so that you can enjoy the car again soon.

Aerosilver....wow! the car looks fantastic!!! Hope you´ll drive it to Hessisch this summer..or?
Udo...sad news...One solution could be to buy a NOS industrial 30 horser from Sweden. You can still find them for 5-600 euros |

Aerosilver,
Thanks for sharing. I love staring at that interior as it is soooo perfect!!!
Do you have plans to paint the car or just run with it for a while? Not picking...Just curious..

Thanks for the compliments everyone .We will be at Hessich
I have no plans to paint,i want to enjoy driving it
(Underneath the white repaint lies a healthy dose of the original colour scheme,so it could possibly be stripped back )
Udo, hope you get your engine fixed soon |

Russell, aerosilver,
Great car, and thanks for updating the picts on my site. I really like to see it in Hessisch en will look for the small details, like the three row speaker grill (there are two differend versions of that) , your roof line, the intrior. It will be great
Udo, that's bad news. I hope they can fix it.
And otherwise, I still have a complete redone gearbox and engine with all new parts for sale, both from 57 and with the correct 56-57 brake system. I will sell it if you make me a good offer. On both engine and gearbox, you get a year warently.
