i bought this muffler from an ad that stated it was for 1300 & 1500. so i assumed it also fit 1600- and yes there is a muffler that fits all 66-71 beetle, and thru those years VW made 1300, 1500 and 1600 engines
well, that muffler i bought did not fit my 1600DP. 1/2" too narrow on both the bottom and top pipes. so i figured this muffler was for a 1200, even though the sticker says 1300, 1500, 40, 44hp. the part # on the sticker is 113-251-053E, which makes no sense! it is not in the part catalogs i know of and google turned up NO matches! here is the picture- i also have a pic of the sticker but dont know how to shrink the 1.4 MB file...

| as you can see in the pic more than half of the sticker is missing- i gotta wonder what was on the rest of it. yet the whole part # is on that sticker. but that part # doesnt seem to exist! i can see them putting the wrong sticker on a muffler that it shouldnt have been on, but whats with the fictional part #? |
