I need the dimensions for the rear facing seat in a non-walk thru westy.

I have a bay closet and I'm planning on making one.
I have never seen one for sale...any help/pictures/ thank you!

Jeremy, you are really going to need to make paper templates from an original one. There are many curved cuts on it to match the contour of the side of the bus, the back of the bulkhead, etc, and then there is the interior "map pocket" compartment with its bottom etc.

I'd suggest you find an upcoming show near you and then use the forums to find someone bringing their SO-42 westy. Try to link up for an opportunity to remove the seat and make those templates.

Major Woody, it's funny you should reply. I'm getting ready to do the whole interior and your "baltic birch" stain recipe has been added to my archives. Thanks for the detailed information!

I've been to a few shows and continue to see the walk thru westys...I honestly have never seen a rear facing bench seat!

I am looking to make one of these, or buy one...they don't come up too often.

This showed up in the classifieds if you didn't already see it. Not complete but it's a start.

Ok, here are the dimensions I received. Thanks again Matt.
Sorry for the lame paint skills!

A 38 1/4 bottom and 39 3/8 on the top for the curve on the side
B 13 3/4
C 16 1/2
D 29 3/8 to the bottom of the top ply
E 6 wide and 8 3/4 with the pad 6 is the ply though
F 18 base
Map Pocket 15 across and 13 deep

I hope to find this seat as an original, but this may be a way to build your own. Feel free to add any build pictures or advice along the way. Wink

will, I still have the bottom pedestal section and cushion here. I just do not have the back section or cushion.

But I do have an extra set of z-bed cushions that you could use to make the back piece.

Thanks Mike, I have a bunch of foam from a mattress so I can use that for the back. I will get that bottom from you soon.

Ok, I finally got my hands on one. It had the back piece with cushion and shelf, and the seat bottom cushion. I had to make cut and attach the 3 wood pieces that the seat bottom rests on. Good for now..after seeing some originals, the front piece goes infront of the left side and is curved.

Any leads on parts for a rear facing seat? I have an old bay closet that I may use per the dimensions provided, but I figure any original parts that someone may be hoarding could certainly be helpful.

How does this seat install? I have a rear facing in pretty bad shape. I cut some plywood pieces and connected everything with metal brackets on the inside. It's actually lookin good now, but I have no idea how it gets installed in the bus.

The more details the better! Cool
