Most Buses I get I try to check in certain areas to see what has been for gotten.
Everyone knows about under the front seat.
Most of us also know about the lip up inside the dash, it was a good place for the "stash" or a spare key.
There is also inside of the frame rails. I have found many spare sets of keys there.
My last, favorite place, to look is down inside the front nose. I have found many interesting things. Todays find is the most amazing of all. Early last year I bought an OG paint SO42 that had been abandon out in the desert about 20 years ago. The person I got it from was given it by the property owner. He did not want to restore it so he sold it to me. It had 2 problems. One it was missing half of it's original parts & 2 it was missing it's VIN tag & M-code plate. While polishing the Bus today I saw a piece of paper against the front nose. I reached in & pulled it out. It was an original VW post card. I then reached down & pulled out 2 bent up pieces of metal. To my shock & excitment it was the original VIN tag & M code plate to this Bus.
What have you guy found in the nose of your Bus. If you have not looked yet, maybe you should. _________________ Home of the one true split Bus Motorhome |

I had some horrible troubles with the gear selection on my '58 bus. When I took it to the experts they got it up on a hoist, took a quick look and said "ahh here is the issue". A couple of whacks with a massive chisel and mallet and a 1948 Half Penny came flying out.
Now I have great gear selection and soon a cool key ring for the bus keys. _________________ splittycalendar.com - Home of the Splitty Calendar™ |

The only thing of value I ever found down the nose was a pair of my own sunglasses. I once found a small ziploc baggie of weed; otherwise all I've ever found is spiders. _________________ fig

In my '55 westy, I found a gas receipt that was dated 25+ years to the day. _________________ -Thom
