what years did the rear seat change?
bought a rear seat at a swap today. told it came from a 63. My car is a 63. went to install it and when the top and bottom of the seat is installed the holes in the arm are about 3 inches higher than were it should mount to the body. the top also seams kinda skinny. bottom fits just fine.
did I get a earlier seat? _________________ www.cultwagen.com |

It's a 56 rear seat, in iaccy's first picture, I think. Look like mine.
Edit: maybe it is for 58-59. Some small differences.
And I have a little hole in my back seat (mice).... _________________ I got a historic car, every scratch got a history...

Looks to be OG fabric. If it try to bolt the top in without the bottom in the car you cant get the bottom in afterwards. The arms dont come close to the body. If I put the bottom in first the top fits nicely and the arms touch the body, just the holes in the body are like two inches lower and a little forward and I cant bolt it down.
Any idea's on what it is. the car is a 63

64 and earlier have rounded corners. that front seat is interesting cuz it has 66 style upholstery but it lacks the safety latch that is found on 66 seats (to prevent the backrest from going forward is an accident). maybe 65 frames? later 65 seats or early 66? somewhere around there _________________ Jahnai Pearson - VW Restoration Technician

jroymcd,
I just went through this rodeo.
You have a later model seat back. The 63 seatback has longer hinge arms.
The seat back also sits a little higher. A PO had put 68 or newer seats in my 64, and I had the same issue. _________________ Mark Allred

What are those extra things on the pre 55 seat back hinges? How are they attached to the seat frame and how do they attach to the body? I'm sorting out the parts to my 53 zwitter and thought I at least had a og back seat but mine does not have those attachments, just the arms with a hole in them like a later seat back. Looks like yours but without the extra part. WTF do I need to find or fabricate now
