|
|
There is a plastic trim piece from the dash area that sits directly in front of the gear shift lever. Can't, for the life of me, figure out how to remove it !!
I'm looking for a wire that may be in behind there.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I believe you just grab it and pull hard, that's how mine works anyway. |

This plastic is attached just above the tranny tunnel, about 18" wide by 12" high. Can't see any fasteners or screws at all. Just pull hard you say ?? Temptation is to do so but ........... wish I knew more about what is holding it on then I might be alittle more forceful.
More input welcome.

Open the glove compartment and grab the plastic cover towards at the top on both sides and pull. That is where the clips hold onto the heater assembly. It takes a little faith but that is how it is done. |

And don't be afraid to brake the clips, they are broken on mine but it still sits pretty tight. |

I am not a fan of yarding on plastic when you aren't really sure whats holding things together. That said, I did, I got it off, but broke a couple of tabs in behind and cracked a couple of plastic channels on the removed piece. A straight back movement for removal of this was not possible because it seemed to be overlapped by the metal portion of the dash assembly that is just above. Seemed I could only rotate it out bottom first. Therefore cracked and some broken plastic but not the end of the world. I would not have rotated it had I known what is behind.
And nope, I did not find the missing wire I was looking for....... but now I know a bit more about the way these things are put together.
Thanks for the responses sambaland. |

this what you're looking for?
there are two little plastic runners that slide on the ends of the left and right air ducts
you can clearly see one just to the right of the 'feathered end' of the left arrow
(with thanx to ben, as usual)
