Ok so I wanted to make a build page so here is my build
The body looks to be a Terantula
I decided to take my baja bug and make it a glass buggy. I do not have any pics of the baja on this PC.
So I bought a buggy that had a chasis that was rusted and simply junk and stripped the body from it.
here is the chasis not a close up but you may be able to see it
So I stripped my baja
cut it up.
put IRS on it
reinforced the pan
painted it
Fabed up some seat frames and did the brake shortend lines installed trans and engine new brakes all the way around disc in the front new rear wheel bearings and a whole lot more
but it all together
sent it to Texas buggys to build a cage since I am not able to do that
So now I have it back wheels on order along with several other parts.
Next will be cosmetic and wiring
I will add more as it comes.

Looking really good man. Maybe you can have it ready for the Texas Manx Club's Buggy Roundup Labor day weekend? (http://www.texasmanxclub.com/Buggy_RoundUp_III.htm)
I like the chassis reinforcement but I don't quite understand what you did. Did you cut away the channel from edge of the stock floorpan then weld the floorpan to your tube? Also, what size tube did you use? _________________ Don

On the reinforcment I used 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 box tubing
It almost fit in the chanel on the pan that the factory bolts go through for the factory body so I cut the lip off. The part that is on the very out side. I will put a pic up showing it better.
I did weld it to the pan aswell as the rear torsion tube and the front frame head.
But I belive I am 95% done with the fabrication work.
I am going to join the Texas Manx Club aswell. |

Took it for the official test drive right after sun down. The streets are well lit.
Halls ass for a stock 36hp engine. Stops on a dime I do have frt disc. handles great as I ripped through the curves in my undeveleped subdivision.
Cant say I need to do much more to the setup I have front end is a bit stiff but I have no wieght up there at all will see what happens with body and fuel tank in before I make ajustments.
I guess now I do body work and order me some seat belts I wish clip1 would bring it with my front wheels. have had my rear ones for like 10 days already from summit.
here is what it looked like when I drove it. I had no one avalible to snap a pic while I was driving it,

Shawn, You're doing an excellent job; I appreciate these 'build' threads, I think I enjoy them the most. I'll post one once I'm done.

So I raised it
Here are those pics they are current but I did not wash it so its dirty
man my kids are crawling all over me I will have to try and finish this later
I kind of rushed this post sorry _________________ My Build Page http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3852984&highlight=#3852984 |
