I just picked up a 74 Westy. I'm not 100% sure if this the stock 1800 or if has been replaced at some time with a 1700. How can I tell with out measuring the piston size?

you can read the numbers off the case to get find what the case was intended for. just post it here. however if the engine hase been modified the only way is to measure the inside head size. or the piston diameter.
