I have a steering wheel 1134 156 51 A

which is kinda tan in color and it has smaller splines than other wheels. It may be European.

That's a 48 tooth spline hub. VW changed from the 24 tooth to the 48 tooth during the '56 model run. This was to facilitate a finer adjustment when mounting the wheel to the steering shaft so it would sit straight.

Yes, I just counted and there are 48 splines. So will this fit all 1956 to 1959 VW beetles?

Thanks,

Yes, It will fit. VW never changed the actually steering shaft used from 1943-59. That shaft always had the course 24-tooth spline

Thanks,
You have solved my questions. I appreciate it. Now maybe someone will buy the wheel on Samba.
