I'm forced to weld a repacement lower frame head plate onto a '69 bug upside down. What would be best? Flux-core, 'regular' wire with co2 or with argon gas. Thanks....

From what I remember from my long ago shipyard days...they had a 25%co2 mix. That was used for vertical welding. So that's what I need, the 25%co2 mix?

Better yet flip the vehicle onto its roof. But the 75/25 mix is good. For heavy applications in the small 110V unit in my shop I have used straight argon gas as the sheild.
