Howdy
I have (installed) a VDO 52mm black Cockpit series fuel level gauge on the van.
I need the sending unit for this gauge.
So I email EGauges and ask which of the several items they offer should I order:
0-30 ohms
0-90 ohms
10-180 ohms
240-33 "classic"
240-33 ( i guess not "classic")
90-0 Ohm Tube Type Senders for Adjustable Gauges - VDO
240 - 33 Ohm Tube Type Senders - ISSPRO
I get an answer telling:
Measure the ohms at empty ( ok no prob here)
and
when full (sic)
Now how do I measure ohms:
1- on a full tank that is not yet installed as I would obviously prefer to install said sending unit before mounting the tank
2- without a sending unit to activate the gauge as I am trying to acquire said sending unit.
My logic has failed me here. Perhaps one of you wizards can translate for me.
Now as a preventive measure for my sanity and not wanting to incur the blazes that another member received (inlcuding mine ) I shall explain
I want and have an auxiliary aftermarket 52" VDO black cockpit series fuel level gauge because:
1- I am mounting an auxiliary tank
2- Because for safety, speed of reading I do not want the OEM gauge to read both
3- Because I had the gauge
4- I like the look on my dash instead of an empty hole
I shall be delighted upon request to explain:
why I want an auxiliary tank
why I want a gauge for it
Why I chose a VDO black Cockpit series (I would have preferred a Smith but harder to locate)
why my auxiliary tank is round
For most anything else, I shall only speak in front of my attorney

Well I guess this Gordian Knot like question has also successfully defied the logic and expertise of the customary friendly experts here and no one can make sense of it.
I cannot make sense of it either
I just thought I would ask and would like to thank all who read my post

Explain to me why you have "no regrets".
Id think you could get the ohm reading from the appropriate connectors at the instrument panel, but i could be wrong.
oh, uh, i just re-read your post. yeah, nevermind on my suggestion. _________________ Clark

Are there any indications with the gauge that indicate what range it operates at? Can you get specs online? I don't know why but your post made sense to me. |
