I have never seen a NOREMA rack like this. Are they rare or desirable? My buddy wants to trade it for some parts I have. I just dont know the value.

O.. I should say about $500. Its made in Sweden, and its rare over here.
If I had one I would not part with it for less than that. |

this might be a dumb question, but would an original vw rack or this swedish rack be a better value? |

This rack is adjustable, so it can fit other cars too. But its very popular over here and in Denmark on bugs.
A original VW rack, non adjustable are probably better in value. |

I have one of these and I have not seen another one in person, although I do know there are some around. It's probably my favorite roof rack and like was said previously, the width is adjustable via clamps on those tubes that bend down to attach to the rain gutters.
Here's a couple closeups:

I'll scrounge around but I don't think I have any more right now. If not I'll try to get some up soon. |

In Norway these racks are pretty common. A Norema in good shape go for about 1000 NOK (150 USD). There's also a wider type that fit type-3's. Had one on my notchback. Nice rack, and probably rare and desirable

I would buy 5 for $150 usd. Go find a big box and we'll work something out. |
