(vertical red arrow) do limit straps have to be installed inline with the shock? with my current setup, i would have to use some kind of spacer because the limit strap mounting bracket would interfere with the body of the shock.

(horizontal red arrow) an idea that i had was to install it diagonally/horizontally. with the rotational movement of the arms, the motion toward the bottom of the stroke is horizontal as well as vertical. this setup would keep the arm from swinging further forward and therefore keep it from moving downward.

feedback?

you'd be better off installing it a few inches to the rear ot the shock from the upper frame rail. If you know the length you need you can just add a tab to the frame. if not you can add an adjustable clevis.

so, forward of the tierod, behind the upper shock mount, correct?

i may need to exchange these for shorter ones so i dont have to build too high of a mount for them

yes. mine come down from the frame in front of the tie rod and bolt to the upper link pin, at the spindle. add your mount first, then let your trailing arms drop until the shock bottoms out and then measure, but remember to subtract around 1/2 to 3/4 inches from overall lenght to ensure that your shock doesn't bottom out while driving.I'd post a pic but i can't seem to get the resolution on my camera low enough. this site says my pics are all too big.
