Hi All, I am trying to remove the input shaft seal on my 70 fastback and it is giving me fits. Does anyone know any tricks to removing this seal? thanks, Jeff |

Mine are home made, but they work.

is the original seal a rubber rings with metal inside? I have the rubber off and now I can't figure out how to get the metal out...ugh! |

Yes, the seal is made from a metal base with rubber over that.

I have had good luck drilling a long screw into the metal part of the seal, and then using a hammer to pull on the screw and pull the seal out. I typically have to drill two screws, one on each of the seal, to remove it. |

I used a seal puller on mine. $8-10 at Sears I believe.
