I think you forgot some of it when you picked it up, or it fell off the trailer.
maybe the bit your missing is stamped 1?

I looked at my June '53 kombi, and I have a 4 higher and to the right also. Never noticed it before.

Maybe not relevant but split beetles have these random single numbers too. I am sure there has been a thread on it sometime in the past with no conclusion from memory Confused
