That is a '58 thru '63 hood. The internal braces are significantly different on a '57 and earlier hood.
This is early oval / late split but the bracing is the same on a later oval. The only thing that a hood for your car would not have would be that little triangular brace where the VW emblem goes.

That hood is for a 58-60. _________________ It all works on paper.

According to the "Progressive Refinement" 1940-1961.
"Front Hood"
1 NOV 58 starting with Chassis# 2149029
Now: rear edge with folded seam.
Formerly: spot welded.
early "4 tabs" are for aug 56 (56 model) to October 31 58 (59 model) cars. these feature a long square support and the hood hinge mounts only and the hood is simply a sheet metal sheet that ends, with out a rolled end.
late "4 tab" hoods with the upper corner triangular hood supports and and the rolled and crimp welded rear edge where the hood meets the cowl is for Nov 58 (mid 59 model year) to Dec 60 (mid 61 model year) cars. so this is a 59-61 4 tab hood.
