Don't these usually go off topic?
You know that's funny...I was thinking the same thing about Americans! It seems to me when you pass through the U.S. the number of flags I see on homes, RV's and in general is far greater than here at home. We stopped three nights in the states and I saw numerous campers fully flagged and even red, white and blue rope lights! All good if you like that sorta thing.
That being said...our reason for having the flag was the fact we were travelling coast to coast, mostly in Canada. Since we got back home a few people have mentioned it's easy to spot my van with the flag so I think it's part of the van now.
Culturally we may be similar no question. I'd argue we are very different idealogically, politically, religiously and not too many of you guys speak french! hehe. I'd never attempt to say one is better than the other because home is home. Most of us like where we live, me included.
I flew a Nova Scotia flag when I was in British Columbia. Why? I thought it was pretty cool to drive an 86 Westy from here to there. I was feeling mighty proud...felt like showing it!
Lastly...if you are ever in Canada flying your flag I'll wave and welcome you to our big ole country and when you cut me off the flag will give a reason to scream..."Damn American!" hehe.
I don't know if that answers any questions...maybe we need a sticker..."I'm Canadian and flying my flag...but I don't know why!!!"
Cheers, Brian. |

Brian,
A little off topic, but . . .
So why do you think so many Canadians feel the need to show flags, stickers, patches etc. of the Canadian flag? I've traveled a lot, and have noticed that no other nationality in the world does this to the extent Canadians do. |
Probably so they're not confused with Americans.... _________________ 89 Syncro Westy - GW 2.5, now with a double knob job

OK I admit we were confused by one American couple.
On an overnighter somewhere in North Dakota we were parked next to an RV you could fit 6 Westy's inside! The woman who owned it insisted on showing it to my two young daughters, so we went for a tour. I had no idea, but apparently, if you pray to God, he will lead you straight to the RV of your dreams. Who knew?
I have been trying a slightly differnet approach since I got back home but no packages have arrived yet from GoWesty! oh well.
I admit the next day I was looking forward to getting back to Canada. The first night back in Manitoba we ended up two sites away from a loud music playing, cursing and swearing couple that kept the noise up until the split second the clock hit 11 p.m.
No matter where you go...there you are!

And picked up a pint glass, too, and it's not one of those "pints" at US pubs that really only hold 12 oz. It holds a real PINT! Yum! _________________ 1984 Westy with tencentlife power! |

Link to my stickers. The first few are stickers, the rest are from my trip out to Washington Coast. 4 hours west of Seattle. We did the loop around the Olympic peninsula. Seattle down to Olympia, across to Aberdeen and camped at Kalaloch Campground. Headed north on 101 through forks and around to port angelos to the bainbridge ferry and back. great trip!

I know you can upload directly to the page, but I haven't figured that out yet, any help would be appreciated. |

The old vanagon had a sticker on it that we made in printing class that said:
"Jerry is Dead!!"
Others included the,"I'll be Grateful when their dead" blahblahblah....
Right now we have a "Make Coffee not War" and "OMG Genuine VW replacement parts"
No need to advertise crap unless its funny, IMO!!!! _________________ 1993 VW Eurovan 5-Speed

I had that on my old van. I decided to take it off when I had to leave the van at a dealer in Twin Falls ID for a month. I wanted my van actually fixed instead of made worse! _________________ 89 Syncro Westy - GW 2.5, now with a double knob job
