i emailed berg about it.. looks like they are dcnf's and the manifolds are the shortys... just unsure about the size. what measurement dictates the size? ex. 40 dcnf, 44 dcnf, etc.. is it the inside diameter that the venturis slide into?

Just measure the diameter of the throttle plates in mm. That will tell you if it's a 40 or 42.

They measure out to be 42mm.. i did a search on berg special 42s and it looks like i scored a set!.. numbers are ground off the bowls and they have the 13mm nuts on the idle airs. Anyone know if a rebuild kit will work or do the berg carbs require special replacement parts?
