Hi,
i have searched but have not found the answer i am looking for. What headlights belong on the 1964 bus? what is the true breakdown of differences between early and later style?
any help is appreciated.
thanks

I guess it depends on what you mean by early vs. late.
I don't know all the differences but:
A USA '64 would have grey headlights with grey backs. Lenses would be SB19 SB20 SB21 lenses.
The differences are mostly that earlier ones (50s) have black backs and difference lenses. There are some differences in the headlight rings as well but that is much earlier. _________________ How to Post Photos

thanks everett.
I have seen some with the little bulb on the side. is that correct or is that a bug specific bucket? i only have three wires to my buckets so it looks like those small bulbs on the side would be useless.
thanks for the responses. |

My 64 has the side lights as well (so does the 67 parts Bus). Those are standard on the 64-67 US models AFAIK.
If the turn signals are single filament fixtures, then your headlights should have the extra bulb and a separate gray wire also coming into the bucket.
The driving lights are not fused, so maybe that wire got toasted at some point? |

All Buses with sealed beam headlights (USA style) have the little parking light bulb on the side.
If you don't have those wires, maybe someone cut them off?
Some wiring info:
The ground wire from the headlight bulb just goes back into the wiring loom and then comes right back out to hook to the parking light connection. There is no real ground, the headlight bucket itself grounds to the body via its mounting screw so you may be able to trace that wire to somewhere? _________________ How to Post Photos
