So you are saying that when I install the canvas, I should fold the canvas back down over the plastic trim piece after stapling it in place? I thought the trim was supposed to be exposed to view.

Here is a photo of Triple6's poptop, which shows the strip, and staples, in plain view. See it at the top of the photo? It is definitely unchanged from original.

In my '65 the original was folded over the strip so that it couldn't be seen.

I bought my canvas from Rolf in 2007. I advise staples when mounting.

This is how I mouted it:

Frank,
That looks very good.
I was going to try to hide the joint of the large gray plastic trim piece behind the hold-down bracket clip. I don't know where the factory put the joint. Do you? I see you have yours on the side.
Is there any reason not to do it the way I was planning to?

I was going to work on this thing this weekend.

Regards,

Chris

Hey guys, I just brought my '66 Westy home. As I stumbled across this thread I figured I'd share some pics of my canvas. Evidently this has been replaced in the past, the material is striped with flaps that hang down covering the sreen up. What do you make of this? It looks as though it's at least 25 yrs. old...

Thanks,
Jerry

The flaps should hang down when open, not roll up.
The vertical legs of the velcro are supposed to extend downward past the fold, to give the flaps something to hook to so they will be out of the way when open.

Resurrecting an old thread.... who is making the best poptop canvas these days. Mine was replaced at some point in it's life with an Orange one which now has a torn screen. I'd prefer to replace it with one closer to the original color as the Orange doesn't match anything.

Thanks.

Wolfsburg West:

$295.00 - Just listed as 'canvas', yellow with the most orange of the bunch:

In each case I selected the top of the line available from each vendor. If you have used any of these recently, can you please comment on their makeup, how they held up so far and any issues.

Thanks.

For what they are charging I HOPE they have white screens in them now.

The bus depot canvas does not use white screens but I have not heard from the other two. I think Dawn at PLF was using white screens but I don't think she has been in business for a long time.

She hasn't and it's too bad she made nice stuff.

For what its worth, I got the WW one a few years back. I have been pleased with it, color...quality...it is a shame the screens are black.

Of the three I mentioned above I think the WW looks the closest color wise to an original:

Bumping this back up, what is the best pop-top canvas option available currently? I'm ready to buy one but I want to make sure I get the best. I just learned that the screens were originally white.... What about the seal from the pop-top to the roof? I was going to order the set-up from WW but wanted to see if anyone had a better option. Thanks!
