I just found out 2 days ago that Jim Miehle of Grass Valley, CA passed away about 1 year ago. He was a fairly low key VW oldtimer who was mostly into commercial Buses, ambulances & fire trucks. I know a lot of West coast guys new knew him or knew of him. Just thought I would pass the word on.
I did a search but did not see a thread on him.

Wow, I hadn't seen him in a while. He always had some really esoteric stuff. He was a nice, helpful guy, but you're right, he operated below the radar. _________________ -Thom

I live in Grass Valley and think I spoke to him once over the phone. I have one of those Westfalia Trailers for sale and he saw my Craigslist ad and called about it. I think he was asking about it as Fire Depts used this style trailer to carry some machinery and he wanted to know if mine was that one or something.
Never met him but seemed like a nice chap.

He was a cool guy. I met him at a SOTO ('memba them?) meet years ago. Very understated guy with bizarre commercial buses. RIP. _________________ '57 sunroof Standard
