Got this jazzy cupholder out of a '91 Mazda MPV at the local U-Pullit. It was attatched to the inboard side of the front passenger seat. I trimmed the og mounting tabs off and drilled my own holes to mount to the front pass. seat box.
had to drill through the inside lip/overhanging metal to gain access for the nut.
folds up and out of the way. Not a bad color match either.
Can't wait to get a slurpee

Cool shirt and foot print gas pedal, but I'm predicting coffee stains on your carpet. The cup holder holes aren't very deep. As soon as you hit a bump the glass/cup is going to pop right out. I'd cut the bottom out of the holes so the cup will sit lower in the cup holder. Nice install and cool idea. _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Clever. It should be perfect for a 12oz. can or a travel mug. Like FNGRUVN mentioned, they might be a bit shallow for a big gulp, but who really drinks those things anyway?
Oh yeah, cute kid and great shirt too! I dunno about the foot though... _________________ '85 Westy |

Very clever, I like it. Do they come in black or any other colors? _________________ Vanagon/Transporter flares here: www.terrawagen.com

Honestly, after I put it on I was lookin' at it and thinking it is an almost useless size. I'm gonna try it out though. It should be ideal for a can of soda or the like. As far as other colors, I only found the blue one. There were other MPV's out there with grey interiors but no cupholders. _________________ 91 CARAT |

Honda CRV has a very slick cup holder that folds down between the front seats, looks like it bolts to floor, gotta check the wifes closer as it looks to be a good one for a wbx. I have one out of the Mazda,is a bit shallow and gonna see if i can cut out the bottom. Also some-'90s have a slick, compact AC unit in the left rear that i plan to put in the back of my Westy and also if i can use in front if i loose the glove box and keep the front as a cover. Another winter idea to check out. |

Thanks for the intel on this modification, I went to the local you pull it and aquired 2 of these, 1 for the seat as you did and 1 above the weekender table, attached mine with self tappers due to swivel seat. Again Thanks for thinking out side the box

I have also admired my friends folding tray/cup holder in his CRV. Looks like they go fro about $30 on eBay.

Funny you should mention that because my wife has a CRV as well and I've always liked that fold-down thing as well. So damn useful. _________________ 1986 Westy 2WD auto a.k.a. "The Old Girl"

I'm wondering if you could cut the holes out so the drink could go through , if so it would be pretty sweet! |

Well, speaking from experience, two micky D's sweet T's will fit side by side in one of these. Rode around all day with no mishaps!
If you don't like the color, just paint them. |

Very nice.
Personally, I prefer simple, direct solutions. For $3.75 a piece you can save yourself the drilling, screwing and aggravation and should one really have a need to use their fingers at this price you can even install additional all over the van.... and they fit perfectly in the stock location in my Wolfie with a OEM look.

Not sure if there's an "extra" DIN slot in the Vanagon dash, but if there is .. take a peek at the cupholder/storage tray unit from a Ford Taurus. Fits a standard DIN slot, put one in my wife's non-AC '89 Cabriolet where the ashtray used to be (center vents on AC cars). Works well, vaguely looks like it belongs... |
