if it was "optional", VW would have made it so the deck lid could still close, and from what i can see the alternator doesnt allow it to.

it looks like a V4 out of a ford taunus

May I suggest you replace that little K&N style breather with a t'd fitting and a 1/2" breather hose to each Dell top.

Connella08, you are close. Actually the radiator inlet tube doesn't allow it to close, no prob with the alternator. And, yes, its a V4 out of a late 60s Ford Taunus, some joint project they had with Saab, I believe. Supposed to be a good motor from all I've heard.
I purchased it this way from the PO who bought it from the builder who spent a lot of time on it, as you can tell.

A better shot of it with the lid closed.

very nice looking bug. never saw the coolant fill pipe at the top. its supposedly a good motor, but is it as buildable as an ACVW case?

2332 EFI Turbo.

Corrction, Glenn, that's a 1904cc EFI turbo home brewed with CB Performance hide away kit and Mexican Beetle intake with BMW TBI. Lots of time and thought into that little screamer. Built by Turbo Don and the Bug pictured is Matt's. I bought that engine as you see it, then traded for the current 2387cc also built by Turbo Don. Wink

Thanks, I thought it was larger.

It's still my favorite engine, it just looks like it came from the factory that way.

And the red with the black interior along with the stance makes that one of my favorite cars.

Simplicity at it's best.

Indeed, it is one of the most undestated SB verts I have seen. Many cool tricks, mainly the 'chopped' front turn signals, very cool. The vert is currently for sale and now has a 1776cc with many Berg parts. FWIW, that little 1904 EFI thinks it's a 2332 also. Twisted Evil

fuel line hose clamps are cheap insurance.....

not sure if your aware but your generrator is 90degrees out of alignmemt

No, was not aware of the generator being off. Is it just a matter of loosening the clamp and turning it? Will try this AM.

Thx!

why does it matter that the generator is 90 off? his wires look like they fit nice, turning it may cause them not to reach

The wires will reach...they're MADE to.

I'm more worried for his lack of clamps on his fuel lines. Shocked

Actually, the lack of clamps is not an issue** (under a limited set of conditions)

These are brand new hoses and they're actually almost impossible to pull off. I had to cut them off when I replaced the pump recently.

My learning is that the new hoses will stay on tightly. However, if you use a screwdriver to stretch them to get them off, then when you reuse them they are no longer as tight.

I now have clamps on as well, but that is only in case I have to remove and reinstall them.
