Between life and 2 other projects I have finally been able to get to restoring the SC. I purchased this truck in March of 2006. The PO was trying to sell the truck on Ebay and I marked the truck as "watch this item" it did not sell. A couple of months later scrolling through my watched items I came across the truck, which as no longer on ebay. Through the ad I was able to get in contact with the owner and struck a deal. And this is how the name "Lucky" came about!! The owner's son was selling the truck for his dad, due to health reasons. He stated his dad had the truck for many years and was the 3rd owner. Through several conversations, I asked if he had any other parts that would go along with the truck. He replied he would ask his dad! He called right back and said there was this cover that went over these U shaped metal pieces. BINGO! The Canopy had been in a box for 20 years or longer. It is in amazing shape.

Since I have had the truck I stripped it down to OG paint. The passenger side was the only side that did not turn out too good. I went through the brakes and took the 36hrs that was not the OG motor out and put in a 40 hrs. The truck is still 6 volt and came with a deluxe pressed bumper Smile. It has sat outside for 2 1/2 years while we finished the Deluxe. Recently we moved it into a garage and it has been there about 8 months.
My plan for the resto is paint it the OG color L31; keep the inside which is OG paint the same; update the upholstery and panels; cut out the few rust areas; clean and preserve the treasure chest area and the undercarage with the Master series paint.
Then lower with a 5" Wagenswest beam, 3 1/2 dropped spindles and a type 1 trans with type 3 brakes. I will keep the OG beam (drum to drum) and trans with the truck. I have some BRM's and a 1600 dual port that was freshly built by my buddy Kenny Penny. I plan on having the truck finished by Daytona.. We'll see...... It is not going to a perfect resto as this will be a daily driver. Here are some pics of starting the process.

Very nice truck, the story resembles a lot about my own 61 single cab; tilt and everything.
What's the production date of yours, just seeing how close it is to mine.

Made some good progress today. Applied master series on the bed and gas tank area. I still need to apply the grey top coat. Corey, all I have left to sand is the roof and B pillars. Saturday I will be ready. Wink
