I got a PM asking how I made this work so I figured I would post pictures here for others to see as well. LATCH is a safetly restraint system used with some children's car seats (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children). The system I am showing here is actually only Lower Anchors.

After a couple weeks in deep freeze it was actually above freezing so went out and it ('86syncro) started up like usual and went for a couple drives about 60 mi to checkout before going on a 500+ mi trip this weekend. Ready to roll! Seems like every time we take a trip the gas spikes about 50+ cts gal, 2.70 now. I sure like the Hankooks on dry /wet roads but they SUCK in the snow. |

My first repair of my first car...
I managed to replace my clutch slave cylinder after it was leaking for weeks already and it just poured out of it after I cleaned it.
As of recommendation from my local shop I also replaced my ox-sensor, as it was getting a bit lazy.
Now the lady is up and running again, better than ever - at least for the time I owned it... _________________ '85 Vanagon L

After a long cold spell, I moved my Vanagon a couple of days ago and later came out to a stream of liquid on the driveway. Deduced it was brake fluid coming out of the passenger side drum; could "only" be a wheel cylinder, so yesterday with the temps going up to the 50's, I spent the day (took most of 2 hrs getting the lugs nuts and bolts loose) replacing the cylinder. This morning I hope to adjust the shoes and should be good for a year as that's the warranty on the Made-in-China part |

Yesterday i mated the transaxle to the smallcar bellhousing and 2004 subaru 2.5L. Found out that my subaru starter is from an automatic and i need to get one from a MT subaru.
Tonight i work on wiring in the smallcar modified subaru harness. Shouldn't be too big of a job since SC already did the hard part. _________________ 1984 Westfalia Wolfsburg - 2.5L Subaru - Sold - Preparing to move to the dark side (4x4 Ford van) |

Got any bigger pictures?
It's kind of hard to tell what you got going on there without a bigger context.
I need to do this before the summer road trip season starts. |

I removed my instrument cluster and tore it apart to clean. Got it all back together and everything still works . Now however I discovered there were some lights not working and after a little research in this forum I am waiting on some LED's to install in place of the excisting lights. _________________ I have never owned a VW I didn't like, but there have been a few Fords and Chevy's.

Same here. I go outside, look at my van, and imagine how great my van would be If I won the lottery (or got approved for a loan at least.)
Some day... _________________

Ditto to that ditto. The van would have a new paint job and all the body work would be done the carpet would be fixed I have to hit the instrument cluster sometimes to get the speedo to work what is that all about by the way? the e-break would work. oh yeah and it would fly _________________ Current VWs: 2001 2.0 New Beetle 250k

I'd have a 1.8t, big brakes, disc's on all four wheels, adventurewagen top, 16" wheels, fender flares, no rust, really nice interior, 5 speed transmission, and a completely yellow paint job. If only, if only... _________________

Aw, what the heck...
You know, jacob takes quite a bit of heat on this forum, much of it well-deserved. But I have to say that I can't help but admire the passion of the young guys that get into these vans. He wasn't even born when they were making these things. Nice list, jacob.
Today, I am going to my daughter's place to dig out my 90 Multivan from the snow. It has been waiting patiently to be rescued since the summer after a clutch line failure. I had to abort the last rescue attempt partway home. Discretion became the better part of valour. I started with no clutch -- I can handle that. Power became OK after the mouse nest blew out of the exhaust. When the brakes went (rusted lines) I had to think about it a bit. The last straw was a severe cramp in my right calf, from trying to hold the accelerator pedal to the floor with my heel, while pressing it with my toe, after it broke off from rust after a few miles.

Us young guys will have our stuff in due time hopefully. Growing up the van was my dream car while every other kid was dreaming about their first car being something fast and Asain. Then I'd say "yup I'm gonna be driving a vanagon" I said it with a huge dorky grin and they'd reply "A what?" _________________ Current VWs: 2001 2.0 New Beetle 250k
