This would be a $100k bus finished but I just cant do it right now. I would turn it all loose at one time for $33,000. I have $15,000 in the parts alone. I am in dire need to sell but I would possibly take in a $10-$15,000 trade for an early oval rag, split beetle or pre 62 double cab.

Dreamer alert! Rolling Eyes

Restored properly... Yes, could be $100K.

Worth $33K now? Depends on the parts included and the level of work performed. 95% completed... The 5% not completed is often the hardest part.

That is my point...to many unknown elements there. I have not seen many 100k buses for sale and when I have, it seems they end up here in the whines. So to speculate that your bus is worth 100k in the future seems whine worthy...

Whether I drive a bay or not... Wink

That's the DC Craigslist bus, right? Everett, your bus reminds me of an old joke:

Q: How do you make a million dollars in the music industry?

A: Spend two million.

Not really...it is a 56 Wolfsburg Deluxe, reportedly complete. What is unknown? Funky green in the pic. Only thing left would be to inspect the metal work done and decide for yourself. If it was a true 55 Wolfsburg Deluxe post Rafferty resto the sky is the limit Very Happy The 50-100K buses that end up in the whines are usually buses built to be something they are not (ie...made to look like a barndoor or Wolfsburg deluxe (feature wise)).

The last 5% of a restoration takes 95% of the time too.

I would like to see some examples of $100,000 restorations (end value, not money spent) because it seems that most restorers skimp somewhere.
You can't blame them because 95% still gets you an "A" in school.

I was thinking the same thing...the guy is 8 YEARS into it. If he sells it shortly after completing, he'll definitely need to be slapped silly. Laughing

Wow! That is beautiful stuff....I can see your point, and that level of bus may forever out of my reach, but here is to my education. Thanks

Perhaps the only "non deluxe" to make the list.

I don't think so. I'm sure that I could think of at least a couple more that could potentially have that value mark.
How about unrestored survivors? That would increase the list as well.
