Tourist delivery is possible but AFAIK that bumper mod was taboo as far as the DOT was concerned, all the other stuff looks like a US/Canada model. Some owners did ship thier bus to Europe for a big trip and back later, maybe the bumper was added then?

What's that vent at the bottom of the spare cabinet do?

We'll do the detective work after the basics are handled.

Looks like an American spec outlet/breaker box also.

I always like looking at the stuff people kept in their buses- those look like old US military wooden tent pegs under the seat.

I had a Euro model 76 just like that one. It had stickers from all over Europe - Hammerfest in Deutschland, Monaco, you know. The front bumper (the real bumper that the blade mounts to) is cruelly hacked to allow the spare tire to sit down low then the fiberglass box hides it all. There is a knob that goes inside the bus through the driver's side kick panel that you spin off to allow removal of the fiberglass box. Inside my fridge was a three way, the propane tank mounted under the sink (with a spare tank under the bed/bench) and the spare tire area behind the driver contained a Trumatic SBA furnace. Also the electrical outlets were 220V and the front windshield was tempered glass.

I may have some pictures around here somewhere...

OK I found some pics of the front bumper mount. Unfortunately I didn't find any of the furnace, propane tank etc. Anyway...

There's the knob to tighten in or release the fiberglass box.

Here's the front bumper with fiberglass box and spare removed. There are fiberglass covers to the left and right of the spare as well.

Details of the butchery. Pretty much the ugliest stuff I've seen Westfalia do.

Mr. Gerson has just begun making some bay panels so hang on, most of the competitions stuff is absolute garbage.

The bus you describe may be a Berlin, or like the pic it could have a Helsinki or other Europe only layout in it, the spare mount was a late Europe only option performed by Westfalia, very cool nonetheless.
It likely has a 3 way fridge and double glazed windows as well.

As for rare? Well in NA it is, in Europe not so much, not rare as in big bucks but definitely unique and more functional than our import laws would allow, I'd roll one in a heartbeat.

I have just bought a 78 helsinki model,it came with the double glazing you mentioned, proper westfalia equipment with the logo on the windows.
It has a 3 way fridge and a neat fold down stove.Gas is stored inside behind the drivers seat.
Mine has a truma sp1800 gas heater which looks like it was installed in 78 but im not sure.It has a 2.0 twin carb stock motor with solid lifters.
everything is working except the gas part on the fridge,i suspect it is just a blocked jet or faulty piezo spark unit.

Some pics of the camper, its got 90000km on the clocks, judging by the receipts i got with the camper and condition of the interior and the rest of the vehicle i think it is genuine!
On the last pic it has a cap type of thing over the windscreen,i have removed it because it was blocking my vision and it did not look good in my opinion.

Congratulations, you are driving my dream bus, and I agree the visor had to go.

thanks!
its a gem!
One key fits all locks except for the gas cap lock.
All the curtains are present and in good shape except for the rear one.
Im going to use it this coming summer then next winter its going to be stripped down and resprayed in original colours of course.
basically it will be restored by a company that does some really good work.
I will be stripping and rebuilding it but leaving the paint and rust removal to the pros!
these guys are good, they are busy doing a really expensive aluminium body Bentley at the moment so she will be in good hands!
